All matters should be referred back to the Qur'an and the Sunnah
“O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result.” [Qur'an 4:59]
- The Source of the Sunnah is the authentic Hadith, it is the second source of Islam. It is to be taken along with the Qur'an while arriving at religious rulings.
Say, "Obey Allah and the Messenger." [Qur'an 3:32]
Allah has not said, "Obey Allah then the Messenger"
- All Hadith are not authentic and we need to check and confirm and follow only the Saheeh Hadith.
see here for more details
- The Qur'an and the Sunnah should be followed as per the understanding of the Sahaba and the 3 best generations of Islam, since they understood and followed it better than us.
Prophet Muhammed (May peace be upon him said) “The best of you (people) are my generation, then those who will follow them, and then those who will follow them." [Saheeh Bukhari 8:686]
- Seeking knowledge is compulsory for every Muslim. We need to make it easy and facilitate learning for people.
Prophet Muhammed (May peace be upon him said), “Seeking Knowledge is compulsory for every Muslim. Indeed, all creatures, even the fishes in the sea, seek forgiveness for the seeker of knowledge.”
[Ibn Abdul Barr in 'Jaami Bayaan al Ilm' authenticated by Albani in Saheeh al Jaami 3914]
- The message of Islam is for mankind not only for some people born in the faith. The message of Islam needs to be taken across
to mankind.
"Here is a message for mankind! Let them take a warning from it and let them know that He is but one God and that those of understanding will be reminded." [Qur'an 14:52]
- It is the duty of every Muslim to play an active role in Dawah- the invitation to Islam. Every Muslim aught to pass on what he knows (only what he knows authentically from the Qur'an and the Sunnah) and he should support the cause by all means that Allah has given him.
"
O you who have believed, shall I guide you to a transaction that will save you from a painful punishment? [It is that] you believe in Allah and His Messenger and strive in the cause of Allah with your wealth and your lives. That is best for you, if you should know." [Qur'an 61:10-11]
Prophet Muhammed (May peace be upon him said), "Pass it on from me, even if it is one verse" [Sahih Bukhari 4:667]
- The biggest problem in the world today is the problem in Aqeedah -belief. The wrong beliefs that are present in the world today are the cause of wrong actions. The core of the problem needs to be corrected first.
"They who believe and do righteous deeds - those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally." [Qur'an 2:82]
Allah has mentioned "Imaan" (belief) before "Amal- us-Saleh" (righteous deeds). We will start where Allah has started.
"When the Prophet of Allah (May peace be upon him) sent Mua’dh ه to the people of Yemen he said to him, "You are going to a nation from the people of the Scripture, so let the first thing to which you will invite them, be the Tauheed(oneness) of Allah. If they learn that, tell them that Allah has enjoined on them, five prayers to be offered in one day and one night. And if they pray, tell them that Allah has enjoined on them Zakat of their properties and it is to be taken from the rich among them and given to the poor." [Saheeh Bukhari 9:469]
"Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him (Shirk), but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly fabricated a tremendous sin." [Qur'an 4:48]
- Islam is the religion of peace. The acts of brutal violence that are happening throughout the world today are not taught by Islam. Rather these actions go against the very teachings of Islam. All forms of injustice and oppression also should be stopped. However, nothing can justify the killing of innocent life.
"Whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely." [Qur'an 5:32] See 11/7 Campaign.
